POSTAGE How does it work?
Ok, after much trial and error we have decided to go with a flat system
automatically done through PayPal [This could change at any time!] For the
moment if you spend over $200 AUD (Australian Dollars) the postage is free!
to anywhere in Australia. It is unfortunately NOT free if the order is
going over seas. If the order is going over seas then after you have paid
for your item you will get an e-mail detailing the amount of postage that you
need to pay before we send it to you. Or in the case of the order being under
$200 then the amount of extra postage that you will need to pay.

Who are West Coast Comics, The Comic Shop
and what do we know
about comics and collecting?
Hello, I am Ralph Pay, and together with my family owned and operated the
first and largest comic shop in
Western Australia, and one of the first in Australia. "The
Comic Shop" ran for over 11 years
and this gave me a fantastic way to surround myself with one of
my loves......COMICS!! Just to give you an idea of the scale of the
old place, take a look at these now very old photos:

These are just a few examples but it should give
you a feel for what our shop was like. After the closing of the retail outlets we
then ran a very successful back issue
mail order business. Then we decided to take a break, Now we are back and have
gone TOTALLY WEB !

How well are the books looked after?
Being a collector myself I know how important
the condition of your collectables is to you. When we sell you a collection it comes fully protected, either bagged or with
special boards or
both. (for the more expensive comics or items) and then surrounded by cardboard so
that your purchase has the best possible chance of getting to you in
optimum condition.
How many items do you have in stock?
We have over 120,000 items in the various collections. Because of the volume of our
stock please be patient with the pages when they download.
What do all the little two & three
letter codes mean?
A$ = Australian Dollars, GN = Graphic Novel, TPB = Trade Paperbacks,
NM = Near Mint, VG = Very Good, HC = Hard Cover, SC = Soft Cover,
USD = United States Dollars, AUD = Australian Dollars,
What is a Graphic Novel? How does it
differ from a TPB?
A graphic novel is a narrative work in which the story is conveyed to the
reader using the comic format. Graphic novels are typically bound in larger and
more durable formats than comic magazines, using the same materials and methods
as printed books, and are generally sold in book stores and specialty comic book
shops rather than at news agents. The term is widey used by most people to mean
just about anything that even looks like a book with comics in it. However for
our purposes here at
thecomicshop.com.au we mean specifically large size comics (either HC or SC)
that have never been printed in another format before! - If the story has been
printed before, then we call it a Trade Paperback. It is usually printed at the
same size as the original comic it is re-printing, but like a graphic novel it
is bound in a better and more durable format. TPB usually collect about 3 to 12
issues of a comic book series.
Are there any original TPB or
reprint Graphic Novels?
Yes, but these are the exceptions and not the rule. Of course there may be
multiple printings of either a GN or a TPB. A 2nd or 3rd printing of a graphic
novel is a regular thing.
